FAQ > Dynamax Balls > What size Dynamax Ball should I buy?

The CrossFit standard is a 20-pound Dynamax Ball.  Many smaller athletes cannot handle this load, especially when it is thrown.  For this reason, we recommend the following ranges:

  • Athletes under 100 pounds: 6-12 pounds
  • Athletes between 100 and 125 pounds: 12-14 pounds
  • Athletes between 125 and 145 pounds: 14-18 pounds
  • Athletes 145 pounds and over: 20 pounds 

Please note that these are estimates based on our own experiences.  You should take always the size and strength of your athletes into consideration when prescribing loads.
